Cimarron UMC blanketed in a foot of snow

Greeting
Welcome to our church website.  Cimarron United Methodist Church is a welcoming congregation for all!

Cimarron UMC is the doorway to the Sangre de Cristo mountains of northern New Mexico.  On the edge of the New Mexico highlands and at the base of the mountains, the Cimarron River flows through our community.

Our congregation hosts church groups visiting ski areas during the winter, and mountain playgrounds during the summer.  We also host scout troops that are arriving or departing from the nearby Philmont Scout Ranch.

Rich in history as a stop on the Mountain Branch of the Santa Fe Trail, and the headquarters of the Maxwell Land Grant, Methodist Circuit Riders were serving this community as early as 1869.  The Colfax County / Maxwell Land Grant war was precipitated with the assassination of the third circuit rider to serve Cimarron, Rev. Franklin J. Tolby, in 1875.
